ABOUT LORNA
Hello, I’m Lorna, founder of Lorna Morris Textiles and Interiors. I specialise in making bespoke, handmade and made to measure soft furnishings including curtains and Roman blinds. I run my business and make all your beautiful soft furnishings from my workroom in Cartmel, a village nestled on the edge of the Lake District. My workroom is located at the Cartmel Institute, an historic building situated in Devonshire Square.
I am originally from Blackburn, Lancashire. It was the town next door, Darwen, where I completed an apprenticeship in soft furnishings with John Lewis specialising in making Roman blinds. I worked for John Lewis for around 4 years, then in September of 2019 I moved from Blackburn to Cartmel in Cumbria. I worked for a company in Kendal for just over a year, it was in October of 2020 I made the decision to start my own soft furnishing business.
I have had a passion for textiles and interiors for as long as I can remember, studying textiles at school then developing my skills at College for 2 years on a Art and Design Extended Diploma Course, followed by a 1 year Art and Design Foundation Diploma, specialising in textiles in both Diplomas. I also have a level 3 Diploma in Soft Furnishings and Curtain Making from the National Design Academy.
In my early teens I designed my own bedroom choosing everything from paint colours, carpets, bedding, curtains and furniture. I then went onto design two more bedrooms - I upgraded as I got older and even pinched my sister’s “big bedroom” when she moved out! With a lot of help from my mum I decorated everything too!
I hope you find everything you need on my website. I look forward to hearing from you to create the perfect finishing touches for your home.
